How does Texas Hold'em work?

Each player has two hole cards. Five community cards are revealed in stages. At the showdown, the best valid five wins.

Cards and stages

Before the flop, only two of your cards are known. Then three community flop cards, one turn card and one river card are revealed. Bidding may take place between stages; Shansio's calculator does not model them.

Which five counts?

In Hold'em you can use two, one or none of your cards. For example, if the top five is already on the board, all remaining participants can split the pot. The suits themselves are not older than each other.

Win without tie, tie and loss refer to the showdown with selected cards. Bets, rake and decisions to continue playing remain outside the scope of calculation.
