SHANSIO INFORMATION

About the Shansio service

Shansio helps adult users learn the rules and odds of poker. This is a reference calculator, not a playground.

What games are supported?

Now available Texas hold'em, Omaha High with four hole cards and Omaha High with five hole cards. Rules and examples are collected in training section.

What do the results mean?

The calculator shows the probability of a single win, tie and loss at showdown. Equity means the expected share of one single pot, taking into account the tie. The numbers depend on the cards chosen, the number of opponents and the pattern of unknown hands. Random hands are chosen from the valid cards in the rest of the deck, not from the opponent's expected habits. Equity does not equal a profit forecast and does not prompt the action of “betting” or “folding”.

Model accuracy and limits

When the opponents' hands are known and no more than two community cards remain, the service goes through all valid board options. In hold'em on the river against one random opponent, a exhaustive enumeration is also available. In other cases, simulation of random distributions is used: the result is marked with an approximation sign, the number of actual samples taken and an estimate of the random error.

The model assumes that all named participants make it to the showdown. It does not take into account bets, folds, rake, side pots or tournament payouts. The service does not know the real cards or further actions of the opponents.

How to use

The results are suitable for independent study and analysis of hands. Use the calculator only where such assistance is permitted by the rules of the site or event. Shansio does not accept bets, operate cash games or pay out winnings.

Hands and links

The calculations are performed in the browser in the Web Worker. The current deal and saved history are stored in the storage of this browser and are not synchronized between devices. They may disappear after the site data is cleared. The "Share Hand" link contains the selected cards and settings: anyone receiving this link can see them and perform the calculation again. The web server may maintain technical logs of page requests.
