The hand became stronger, but the player lost

The strength of your hand and the result against the second hand answer different questions. The river can improve both hands, with your opponent stronger, or keep your flush but give your opponent a full house.

A completed flush does not guarantee a win.

In Omaha High 4, player 1 has A♥ 5♥ 3♣ 2♦, player 2 has K♠ K♦ Q♣ J♦, and the turn is K♥ 9♥ 4♥ 7♠. Two hearts from the hand and three from the board give the player 1 completed flush. However, on the river 9♠, the opponent gets a full house K-K-K-9-9, which is higher than the flush. Among the 40 available rivers, player 1 wins by 30 and loses by 10.

Omaha 4: A♥ 5♥ 3♣ 2♦ vs K♠ K♦ Q♣ J♦, turn K♥ 9♥ 4♥ 7♠
The first player has a flush on the turn. A pair of nines on the board after the 9♠ gives the second player a full house.

In Omaha 5, Player 1 had AAA77 with a 3♠ on the river. With the alternate K♣, his full house became AAAKK, but Player 2 received a quad of kings.

And the suit of one card changes the comparison

With Omaha hands 5 A♠ K♣ Q♣ J♦ 2♠ versus A♥ A♦ 9♥ 8♦ 3♠ and the turn A♣ K♥ Q♥ 6♣ different tens are not of equal value. T♣ gives player 1 flush, T♦ and T♠ leave a winning straight, and T♥ completes the opponent's flush and is not a winning river for player 1. It is the legal two cards of the hand and three tables that determine each outcome.

How to check

For both hands separately, find the best valid five before and after the change, compare the full rank: first the category, then the significant ranks. The word "increased" refers only to a change in the strength of one hand; win is determined by comparison with the opponent. In the lab, you can discover the explanation of every river without betting or guessing about unknown hands.

Find winning rivers in Omaha 4 on a different deal or ask your two exposed hands. The flush example above is excluded from the first episode via thematic link.
